The Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg Scholarship Winners’ Recital presents over $11,000 in prize money to six outstandingly talented Manitoba young artists. Over the past week, Classic 107 has had the opportunity to meet most of this year's winners—a mix of instrumentalists and singers—lastly joined by soprano Christina Thanisch-Smith. A 2018 Madeleine Gauvin Scholarship recipient, Thanisch-Smith was awarded the $2,500 WMC Scholarship in this year’s competition. “I’m so appreciative of all of the opportunities that Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg creates for young artists in Winnipeg” she says. “Everyone is so lovely and they truly believe in the future of music.” Currently in the second year of her master’s degree at McGill University in Montreal, the WMC Scholarship Winner’s Recital will be a homecoming for the Fredericton-born, Winnipeg-raised singer. Join us Wednesday, December 29th 2021 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for both in-person and livestream attendance.
