About the event
The Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg offers up to six scholarships to aspiring Manitoba-educated instrumentalists and vocalists to further their musical training. This annual competition takes place in May, and disburses prizes totaling $11,500. The winners perform for appreciative audiences in December of the same year. This year's scholarship recipients are: Ari Hooker, piano - WMC Scholarship ($3000)
Simon Proulx, clarinet - WMC Scholarship ($2500)
Taylor Burns, soprano - Madeleine Gauvin Scholarship ($2000)
Liana Fonseca, violin - Holtby Scholarship ($1500)
Shion Tamashiro, violin - Phyllis Ilavsky Scholarship ($1500)
Kyle Briscoe, tenor - Berythe Birse Scholarship ($1000)
