SARAH KIRSCH, soprano, is pursuing a master of Music in Voice Performance at the University of Manitoba. She earned first place in the Senior Voice class of MRMTA's 2011 scholarship competition, and was invited to compete in the final rounds of the this year's Eckhardt-Gramatté Competition. This summer she has been offered a full tuition scholarship to attend the Franz Schubert Institute in Baden bei Wien, Austria, and she looks forward to being involved in the WSO's 2012 New Music Festival, amongst others.
JARI PIPER, cellist, is studying for a Bachelor of Music Performance at the University of Manitoba, with Minna Rose Chung. He sees a career for himself in performing and teaching, and to achieve this goal he plans to pursue master's and doctoral studies.
JOSHUA PETERS, violinist, is studying for his Bachelor of Music Performance at McGill University with Jonathon Crow at the Schulich School of Music. He has won several awards, has performed with the McGill Symphony Orchestra and the McGill Contemporary Music Ensemble over the past two years. His goal is eventually to work with the top composers of the world in commissioning and performing new works.
JESSE PLESSIS, pianist, is pursuing a Master of Music (Performance and Literature) at Brandon University, studying with Megumi Masaki. He has been accepted into the prestigious 2011 Casalmaggiore International Music Festival in Italy this summer. His goal is to be a professor of music in a university setting, in order to connect with younger generations of musicians, and to this end he plans to pursue doctoral studies.
THERESA THORDARSON, pianist, is studying with Dr. Michael Kim at Brandon University and will earn her Bachelor of Music Performance next year. She has a broad range of experience: recording a CD of piano works by Remi Bouchard, solo piano performances in performance halls and Brandon's piano bar, to playing in the Brandon University orchestra. She plans to move on to a Master's degree in Piano Performance.
