On November 27, 2024, the Prairie Sons delivered a memorable concert for the Women's Musical Club of Winnipeg, co-produced by Virtuosi Concerts and presented by Prairie Debut. Cellist David Liam Roberts and pianist Godwin Friesen had us mesmerized from the "get go". Besides the thrilling Rachmaninov Sonata in G- for Cello and Piano, they polished off a delightful Poulenc Sonata, some Chopin and Ginestera, a composition by Friesen, and adaptations of songs by prairie legends Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and the Guess Who! But it was more than the music that held us. The emotional depth that this duo brings to the stage binds us to the stories they so eloquently express before each piece. Being part of the audience is truly an extraordinary experience! This was the duo's first in a string of performances across the Canadian West organized by Prairie Debut.
