The Women's Musical Club of Winnipeg is delighted to welcome Everett Hopfner as the organization's first Artistic and Administrative Director, made possible through a grant from the Manitoba Arts Council and funding acquired through our merger with Virtuosi Concerts.

Everett Hopfner is a pianist, music educator, and arts administrator with extensive experience in performance, musical collaboration, and arts administration. He has held leadership roles with organizations including the Eckhardt-Gramatté Conservatory of Music, Prairie Voices Inc., and the E-Gré National Music Competition.

Known for his exceptional musicianship, adventurous approach to new music, and collaborative spirit, Everett has performed across Canada and internationally. Delighted audiences have found him strumming piano strings surrounded by whale skeletons in Frankfurt’s Senckenberg Museum, tinkling away at the jeu de timbres on tour with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, performing on cathedral steps under the stars as a collaborative pianist for Casalmaggiore International Music Festival in Italy, touring across Canada as a winner of the E-Gré National Music Competition, and illuminated by a pulsating light installation alongside the Assiniboine River as part of Winnipeg’s Nuit Blanche.

As an educator, Everett is an active piano teacher in high demand for workshops, masterclasses, adjudication, and summer festivals. He facilitates meaningful experiences by asking questions, embracing challenges, and developing goal-oriented, student-centred learning processes. Everett lives for the “lightbulb moments” ----- instances where his students find clarity or realize a musical wish ---- and works tirelessly to break down barriers to musical participation and understanding still enduring in traditional institutions.

Everett has a deep understanding of Winnipeg’s music scene and Manitoba’s arts community, and he is excited to contribute to WMC’s rich history and strengthen its presence within the wider arts community.

We are delighted to welcome Everett to this new role and look forward to the energy, experience, and vision he will bring to WMC.
