It was ALIVE at the Drive!

What a wonderful way to spend a summer’s evening, listening to a group of artists who volunteered their time and virtuosity in support of the WMC Scholarships. Scholarships that have been awarded annually since 1915!
Guitarist Larry Roy and singer-songwriter Erin Propp commenced this folk/jazz inspired show, playing on a small stage constructed and decorated by neighbours! They began with an audience gathered on a private front lawn, their beautiful harmonies reverberating across Fraser’s Grove demanding the attention of neighbours, evening strollers and cyclists, and their dogs! It was truly a community event, and a wonderful way to experience a great concert, raise funds, and publicize the activities of WMC.
Following the Roy/Propp set, they were joined for more jazzy entertainment by board member Elise Lavallée on viola, among others, and two past WMC scholarship winners ---- Liana Nadurak, violin and Sam Nadurak, cello. The evening finished with a set by the U of M Jazz Trio.
The music amid beautiful surroundings, the casual atmosphere, the bake sale (sold out!), and the generous community atmosphere made for a fun summer evening ------- a fundraiser that bears repeating.
Thanks go to Elise and her family and neighbours who provided the idea and location for this WMC event, and to all the generous and talented musicians who brought the Drive Alive on a perfect August evening.
