Our McLellan Finalists speak with Classic 107

Sam Nadurak sat down with Classic 107's Simeon Rusnak to talk about his cello career. On Thursday, April 18, he will play Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme, Op.33 with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. Here's what Sam had to say:

Samuel Nadurak, cellist and composer, was born and raised in Winnipeg where he studied with Allison Warrian and Yuri Hooker. He completed his Masters in cello performance at the University of Ottawa, studying with Paul Marleyn. He frequently plays with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and teaches cello privately. Sam has worked with well-known cellists Ariel Barnes, Richard Aaron and Hans Jensen. He has found success in local competitions like the Manitoba Provincial Music Festival and the Winnipeg Music Festival, and has played as a soloist with some ensembles and in theatre shows. In 2022, he released his debut album of original songs, Wide Eyed, Tongue Tied, featured on CBC radio. In 2017 he had a composition premiered in Austria’s Murau International Music Festival, and in 2019 won the thirteen strings composition competition in Ottawa. Sam joined the "Back to BACH" Project in the fall of 2016 and was involved as a member, regional director, and Director of Global Operations for 5 years.
