The Women's Musical Club of Winnipeg has accepted a proposal to redirect funds from Virtuosi Concert's Winnipeg Foundation endowment to their own programming, following the dissolution of the Virtuosi organization. The decision followed news of Virtuosi’s recent financial and organizational challenges, which sparked concern among arts supporters across the province.

“The Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg was saddened to learn of the challenges faced by Virtuosi Concerts,” said Sandra Roberts, Past President of the WMC board. “Their diverse and inspired programming has enriched Winnipeg’s cultural life, and their Young Artist Program has provided welcome opportunities for emerging musicians.”

Virtuosi's Young Artist Program resonates strongly with WMC, whose mission includes providing some of Manitoba’s largest individual classical music scholarships and performance opportunities for Manitoba music students in post graduate studies. This agreement includes the establishment of a new annual scholarship bearing Virtuosi’s name, joining the six prestigious scholarships already offered by WMC.

WMC welcomes Virtuosi Board Chair Heidi Reimer-Epp to the WMC board to help oversee the asset transfer and maintain community relationships.

Watch the interview with Classic 107's Nolan Kehler as Heidi talks about Virtuosi's vibrant history, her dreams for what's to come, and her challenge to the community to continue supporting our combined mission to keep classical music flourishing in Manitoba.
