Excitement is in the air! Get ready to be part of something extraordinary at the Women's Musical Club of Winnipeg's Fundraiser. It's an event like no other, and we want you to be there!

On March 17 (yes that's St. Patrick's Day!), WMC welcomes the glorious voices of Nolan Kehler, Geneva Halverson and Ian Olson in songs perfect for tenors! The setting for this event is a gorgeous Winnipeg home (location to be revealed after ticket purchase) where you will get to enjoy fabulous refreshments, wine and other delights, and the camaraderie of the friends of WMC.  But the best part…three sets of tenorial charm! Everything from solo opera (Una furtiva lagrima) and operetta (Dein ist mein ganzes Herz), to the Cat Duet and G&S, plus trios that will melt your heart (Nessun dorma, O sole mio, to name only two), and much more promise a terrific evening.

All proceeds will go to support the WMC McLellan Competition for Solo Performance with the WSO.  Tickets are $75 (partial tax receipt included) available through Zeffy by clicking on the link below.

Bios: Treaty One-based tenor Nolan Kehler is a performer dedicated to collaboration and reconciliation. Recent operatic highlights have included performances with the Banff Centre (The Handmaid's Tale), the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (Handel's Messiah), Manitoba Opera (Li Keur: Riel’s Heart of the North), and the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra (Alcina). A noted Baroque specialist, Nolan has made appearances with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra in Handel's Messiah and with the Canadian Mennonite University Festival Chorus as Evangelist in J.S. Bach's Weihnachtsoratorium and St. John Passion. Nolan has also had the pleasure of working with Juno-nominated Cree composer Andrew Balfour on his compositions Captive and Nôtinikêw in performances with Winnipeg’s Dead of Winter at the Montreal New Music Festival, the Brandon University Chorale, and with Edmonton’s Chronos Vocal Ensemble. When not performing, Nolan is a radio host with Winnipeg’s Classic 107, where he covers Manitoba’s fine arts community and curates listener experiences in a wide range of repertoire. Nolan’s bylines as an arts writer and broadcaster have appeared with CBC, Opera Canada, CANNOPY, and IDAGIO.

Geneva Halverson is a mezzo soprano, pianist, teacher, song writer, and lover of Sauerkraut.

Geneva holds a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from the University of Manitoba Desautels Faculty of Music, as well as a Post Baccalaureate Diploma in opera performance.

Geneva is a past winner of the Zita Bernstein German Lieder Competition as well as a top-three

finalist in WMC’s McLellan Competition 2022. Geneva was also part of Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre’s National Mentorship Program.

Geneva has appeared as Isolier in Manitoba Unground Opera’s production of Count Ory, as The Witch in their production of Hansel and Gretel, and the second lady in Little Opera Company’s production of The Magic Flute. Geneva has also performed with Festival du Voyageur, Winnipeg’s Fringe Festival, and was selected for RBC’s Emerging Artist Mentorship in 2020. Most recently, Geneva sang tenor and bass arias as part of Winnipeg’s Messiah Queered.

Ian Olson is an active tenor in the Winnipeg music community. He currently sings as a section lead at St. Andrew's River Heights United Church, and has sung with Canzona, Manitoba Opera, Dead of Winter, Manitoba Underground Opera, and other groups whenever he can. He completed his undergraduate degree in vocal performance and a post-baccalaureate diploma in performance at the University of Manitoba. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public administration at the U of M and U of W. His latest music ambition is preparing to be a part of the 2026 National Youth Choir of Canada in May as a representative of Manitoba.
